Meet Clarissa
When I was eleven I loved looking at magazines. Teen Magazine, Young and Modern, Seventeen, and Delia’s catalogs, were common on my bookshelf next to the Babysitters Club series. One thing I noticed was the lack of people who looked like me. Chubby, kinky hair, dark skin women were not present in these magazines. Neither were Indigenous people, same-sex couples, or people with different disabilities.
Growing up, this thought circled back to my work, no matter the industry or position I held. Why are women, men, and people, depicted one way and not the other?
Creating FIVE12 STUDIO has allowed me to work and speak on the importance of diversity and inclusion. In order to build your audience, you have to include your audience in every aspect of your brand. For 12 years I’ve worked side by side with businesses of varying sizes bringing awareness and creating campaigns that match my personal motto while helping them tell the story they want through their creative storytelling.

Art and Politics Go Hand in Hand
As much as brands may not want to “get political,” it’s important for brands to take a stand and be active in their measures. Saying, Black Lives Matter is great but what is your brand doing to prove that? Are you supporting anti-trans bills by donating to organizations that support them? FIVE12 Studio takes a hard stand to make sure we work with businesses that understand how important it is to build community and walk alongside those that some try to shut out.
